This is a Finishing Service ONLY to add a Black Nitride finish to most STEEL and STAINLESS STEEL firearm parts. Minimum lot charge is $120. The parts are listed in the options above to provide an idea of the items we can Nitride finish (all steels, including stainless steel, NO ALUMINUM). Please select from the most common items we nitride. The lot charge will typically cover a slide and barrel. Additional parts will be an additional charge. Feel free to contact us and we will quote you and charge you accordingly if you would like to proceed. Most steel firearm parts, including serialized frames/receivers can be nitride finished. Black Nitride (or QPQ) is a robust, extremely thin finishing process that toughens the steel, resists corrosion and adds lubricity. Tougher than Cerakote or PVD.
The Black Nitride (QPQ) service we offer is specific for firearms applications. It adds an ultra thin, high hardness surface finish to the substrate. Friction coefficient and corrosion resistance is greatly improved. Most surfaces do not need masking unless tolerances between the mating surfaces are extremely tight. Your parts can be re-nitrided.
Applications for Black Nitride finish include: slides, barrels, internal components, triggers, upper/lower receivers, suppressors, muzzle devices, magazine bodies and more...
Includes: SERVICE ONLY to finish your part(s) in Black Nitride (QPQ). Parts should be stripped 100%. If you cannot strip the part, contact us to discuss disassembly charges. Fantastic service!
I sent in a slide, frame and a handful of small parts for nitride service. The double stack 1911 pistol I was building was so special to me, months of work, and about $2600 in parts. AB Prototype was one of two companies I identified in searching for a nitride service provider that would handle the serialized frame. I had some specific requests regarding this treatment service such as I didn't want the parts to be media blasted prior to treatment, I would be doing that myself. AB Prototype went out of their way to answer all my questions and hammer out details before I even placed the order. Their communications were prompt and professional. I was confident the service would be carried out exactly how I wanted. Unbelievably, it only cost $100 even though I threw in a handful of small parts with the slide and frame. An extra $40 was tacked on after the fact for shipping due to the frame being the serialized component. They had to provide a packing slip for me to ship to their FFL address. Another $14 was added at the time of order for return shipping. $154 all in for this quality of work is unbeatable! When I received the parts, they were packaged with care, and after inspecting them I cannot identify one flaw in the finish. They look absolutely fantastic. I cannot recommend this company or service enough if you want a beautiful and robust nitride finish on any of your firearms components!
